Located in Northern New Mexico, Vermejo Park Ranch is home to incredible wildlife, historic accommodations and a staff that have lived and breathed that land for several decades. The ranch has set the bar for sustainability in terms of its eco system and the over 1000 square miles of open wilderness, massive bison herds, countless elk and of course the bobcats, mountain lions and bears. Not to forget about the world class stretches of river in both alpine lakes as well as numerous rivers. The ranch has single handedly saved the Rio Grand Cut Throat Trout with its conservation efforts over the past 20 years.
Vermejo is now the crown jewel of Ted Turner Expeditions, which is turning a series of ranches in the Western United States into destination resorts for an authentic connection to nature with a luxury component.
EXP staff recently had the privilege to explore the Ranch with senior guide and activities director James Reidy who has been living on the ranch for over 17 years and has an incredible passion for the land, the mission and sharing his knowledge with guests. Over the course of a day and a half it is not uncommon to see Elk, Bison, Bald and Golden Eagles, Bobcats, Coyotes, Mule Deer, and Black Bear.
The Ranch has a wide variety of accommodations including the historic Casa Grande Lodge, which was renovated to its original state from the early 1900s. There is also Costilla Lodge located well out into the backcountry of the Ranch and its 16 guest occupancy is perfect for YPO retreats, multi family experiences, or anyone who is looking for the ultimate in privacy and wilderness experience.
Vermejo Park Ranch is a hidden gem in the Western United States and in close proximity to Santa Fe, NM as well as Colorado Springs and the Great Sand Dunes National Park. For more information please contact EXP Journeys at hello@EXPjourneys.com.
