Most people don’t think of Canada when they think of a rainforest. However, the Pacific coast of Canada is home to one of the world’s most pristine and untouched temperate rainforests. The Great Bear Rainforest is part of the larger Pacific temperate rainforest ecoregion, which is the largest coastal temperate rainforest in the world. Tucked on the edge of this rainforest is a luxury resort that offers an incredible opportunity to explore this unique remote destination.

A Luxury Resort in the Great Bear Rainforest

If you want to seamlessly blend a remote, nature-inspired escape with luxury wellness and fine culinary experiences, Nimmo Bay is the resort for you. The adventure will start even before you arrive at their remote location, as you board either a private float plane or helicopter to reach the resort.

When you arrive at the wilderness lodge, you will be blown away by the stunning setting where the forest meets the ocean. You’ll quickly settle into the stillness as you breathe in the fresh, cedar-scented air. The resort offers unique amenities you likely haven’t seen anywhere else, like a floating sauna dock and a cedar hot tub that allows you to unwind with tranquil, 360-degree views.

Up Close and Personal with the Local Wildlife

Of course, a journey into the distant rainforest wouldn’t be complete without reconnecting to mother nature and seeing some of the epic wildlife that calls the Great Bear Rainforest home. Nimmo Bay Resort offers luxury adventure travel for those who want to get up close and personal with the wild, like kayaking the inlets, paddle boarding in the bay, hiking to the summit of Mount Stevens, or journeying by helicopter to visit ancient glaciers and secluded white-sand beaches.

Sightings of orcas and humpback whales are common in Nimmo Bay, along with many other marine creatures. But perhaps the most sought-after sightings in the area are the black and grizzly bears. In fact, a rare subspecies of black bears called the Kermode can be found here. A recessive gene causes 10 percent of these bears, sometimes called Spirit Bears, to have white fur, making them a super special and unique sighting if you’re lucky.
